The name "Competizione" is a reference to the 6C 2500 Alfa Romeo, Competizione 1948 that participated in the race between the years 1949 to 1950 while the line on both sides are designed to mimic the style of the Alfa 1930 and 1940.
This engine is of a different race cars in Italy, Maserati Quattroporte, although enlarged to 4.7 liters.
